THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : The state treasury has disbursed Rs 26,000 crore in March, the last month of this financial year, as compared to Rs 22,000 crore during the same period last year, Finance Minister K N Balagopal has said. He said that the state managed to ensure adequate spending in all sectors amid attempts from the Opposition parties to project that Kerala was heading towards an economic collapse and the financial management had been poor.

He said the salary and pension were disbursed promptly, while the loan repayment was also done on time.

“We are expecting a favourable interim order from the Apex Court on the petition filed against the Centre blocking the grant that the state is entitled to. Then we can ensure more financial support for various sectors,” he said. He said that there has been an increase in the revenue generated by the state.
